The Ramblas, Barcelona

Today we found our hotel was 100 yards from Plaza Catalunya, right on the Ramblas. The Ramblas is one of the “must see” places in Barcelona. This street is a pedestrian only route and is lined with shops from flower stalls and pets to artists willing to draw your picture. Simply put the Ramblas is complete unorganized chaos and everyone wants to join the party. We walked the entire path to the Column of Christopher Columbus as seen in the picture attached. This column marks the point in which Columbus returned from his first trip to America and was met by the King and Queen of Spain. We continue down the manmade Ramblas del Mar, which is a wooden continuation of the Ramblas over the sea. We experienced our first tapas, small portions of prepared food, and slowly walked back to our hotel taking in all the action surrounding us.
